MOUNT HERMON LODGE No. 118/ ESTHER CHAPTER No. 12 SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

This scholarship trust is to provide funds for deserving students who are related to members of Esther Chapter No. 12, Order of the Eastern Star or Mount Hermon Lodge No. 118.  

QUALIFICATION:

    The applicant must be related to a member or former member of Esther Chapter No. 12 or Mount Hermon Lodge No. 118.  The relationship requirement to a member of either organization is similar to the IRS guidelines for qualifying child/qualifying relative.  The relationship includes, children, stepchildren, adopted children, foster children, grandchildren, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law.  The Board of Trustees will make a determination concerning the relationship qualification under any other circumstance.

    The scholarships are for students who will be enrolled full time at an accredited school and in a curriculum leading to an AA, Bachelor, Masters or PhD degree.  The scholarship will be in the form of a single annual payment to the selected individuals.  Each selected individual may reapply in subsequent years.

APPLICATION:   

    Each applicant must mail to the Board a letter requesting scholarship consideration.  The letter should address, but not limited to, the following topics:

     o    The name of the Esther Chapter or Mount Hermon Lodge relative
     o    Scholastic achievements and GPA
     o    School activities
     o    Community service projects
     o    Membership and positions held in groups/clubs/organizations
     o    Hobbies and interests
     o    The school to be attended and the major field of study
     o    Career objectives

    A Letter, or Letters, of Recommendation from at least one of the following categories:

     o    Education
     o    Employer
     o    Group/Club/Organization
     o    Masonic Organization
