The Board of Trustees for the Scholarship Trust Fund met early in August 2009 to review the excellent applications from students related to Esther Chapter, OES, and our Masonic Lodge. The following student was selected for the award based upon their scholastic and extracurricular activities:

John Halvorsen
  • His outstanding academic and social efforts and achievements at both T.C. Roberson High School and John Hopkins University were very awe inspiring and praiseworthy. All of us were impressed with his National and International success in Mathematics, the years of community service with the Jerry Lewis Telethon, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow, athletic successes and leadership roles in school. As he continues his educational endeavors in Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering, we wish him continued success.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely applaud each applicant and extend our best wishes as they continue toward their educational goals. I would also like to add that each student who is selected demonstrates, not only outstanding scholastic performance, but their involvement in various clubs, teams, groups and community service organizations reflecting the leadership qualities and attributes all of us can be proud of.

Lance Grunge,
Secretary and Board Member.
