The Board of Trustees for the Scholarship Trust Fund met early in August 2006 to review the excellent applications from students related to Esther Chapter, OES, and our Masonic Lodge. The following students were selected for awards based upon their scholastic and extracurricular activities:

  • Nicole Allman will be attending Western Carolina University and is the granddaughter of Norburn and Martha Hyatt.
  • Cody Garrison will be attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and is the grandson of Esther Chapter member Thelma King.
  • Lindsey Land will be attending the Blue Ridge Community College this fall and plans to continue her education at Western Carolina University. Lindsey is the granddaughter of Jack and Grace Land.
  • Todd Olsen will be attending Tusculum College in Tennessee and is the grandson of Frances Rogers.
  • Duane Stepp will be attending the University of North Carolina at Asheville and is the son of Barbara Stepp.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely applaud each of these students and extend our best wishes as they continue toward their educational goals. I would also like to add that each of these students who were selected demonstrated, not only outstanding scholastic performance, but their involvement in various clubs, teams, groups and community service organizations reflected the leadership qualities and attributes all of us can be proud of.

Lance Grunge,
Treasurer and Board Member.
